(Adds details in paragraphs 4–5)

MOSCOW, Aug 8 (PRIME) -- The Zamoskvoretsky District Court of Moscow on Tuesday prolonged house arrest for former Economic Development Minister Alexei Ulyukayev, who is accused of bribery, until January 27, 2018.

Ulyukayev was arrested in November 2016 while allegedly receiving a U.S. $2 million bribe for a positive outlook on privatization of oil company Bashneft by Rosneft.

The court will start hearing the case on merits on August 16, the court’s press secretary Emilia Khil said, adding that the hearing will be open.

She also said that Rosneft CEO Igor Sechin is the prosecution witness on the case.

“Sechin is declared on the list of witnesses on the part of the prosecution,” she said.

Ulyukayev can face up to 15 years in prison.
